Reviewing Your Beauty ABCs a Good Idea for Fall

Seasons are changing, and fall is almost here. As summer schedules fade away, thoughts turn to school and getting back to the basics. Even if it’s been a long time since you gave your teacher an apple,

ABC hair beauty tips

it’s good to review your ABCs…to reevaluate the building blocks of your day-to-day life – even your beauty routine.

Whether you’re a teen in school, a career woman with a corner office, or an on-the-go mom, your looks can affect how others perceive and react to you. So, why not take a pop quiz and see how you are doing. You may pass with flying colors…and then again, a little tutoring may be in order.

Do you know your ABCs?

A is for attitude
Do your looks portray who you are inside? If you are full of life, why does your hair look so dull? You want to have attitude – in the most positive sense of the word, of course. Maybe your looks lack pizzazz because of the extra time at the pool this summer. All that sun and chlorine exposure can cause you to look, well, a little dried out. The sun can zap your skin and hair color. Or, maybe you lack “oomph” because you’re still wearing a teen hair style, but you are in your mid-30s!

If it’s been a while since you visited a hair salon, it’s probably time to chat with an expert and get out of your rut. There are lots of stylists at hair salons who will give a consultation for free. The beauty experts at Salon Trendz in Palos Heights, Chicago, for example, are more than happy to give a complimentary hair or makeup analysis or to talk about the latest haircut for women with you over the phone or in person.

B is for the basics
Have you forgotten the basics? Even if you are wearing the perfect lipstick, a nice outfit, and are having a good hair day, uncontrolled brows can undermine your whole look. It’s a subtle – but basic – component of a “put-together” image. If your hand-eye coordination is good, plucking will suffice, but if you aren’t too steady or need bifocals, some help might be in order.

Eyebrow threading is one fast and easy way to get a perfectly shaped brow that will frame your eyes. Technicians use a thin cotton thread twisted into a double strand, which is swept along the skin. With rhythmic movement, the unwanted hairs are secured in the thread and lifted out. This same technique can be used to tend to other unwanted facial hair, which will zap your look faster than you can say, “Ugh.”

C is for cut, color and control
Have you given in to the temptation to trim your hair in the mirror? “Stop! Put down the scissors and no one will get hurt!” A good haircut is essential. It’s the base of your whole look. Go to a professional!

Bobs of varied lengths and angles are in style. Longer layers are in. Bangs are in – whether short, heavy on the side, or long and in the eyes. Short, long, mid-length, straight or curly hair – it’s all in style, as long as the base haircut is well done, your hair has the movement you want, and the color is flattering.

Almost all hair color and texture needs a touch up after a summer in the sun, where the hue can get oxidized a shade or two. Often a semi-permanent color can give your natural color the translucent boost you need. If you have been wearing an exaggerated blond or reddish color, you might want to adopt a more natural palette, which seems to be the latest hair style for 2008 – for color anyway, say fashion pundits. Warmer colors give hair a vibrant look and complement most skin tones. If warm colors clash with your complexion, pick a neutral shade so your skin doesn’t look dull and old.

Hair highlights can refresh your aura, as well. Chicago’s Salon Trendz offers full coloring service, including foiling and balayage, which is hand-painted highlights.
Deep conditioning can restore the texture of your hair after a season of abuse. Once you repair the moisture content, don’t forget to wear a sun block to protect your tresses from harmful rays – even in the fall and winter.

Another way to get hair control is with Japanese hair straightening – a remedy for unwanted frizz or curls. Japanese straightening thermally reconditions hair, transforming unmanageable hair into sleek pin-straight tresses for six to nine months.

I notice that many of your comments say “the themal straightening is for frizzy curly hair”, is this all hair types? Including Afro-American tight curly patterns? If so please call me to come in. 708-747-8550.
